Trans FAQ

The main reason I have a Second Life account is that it allows me to be who I am. I am transgender in real life and having a second life helps me alleviate some of the stress that it can bring into my daily life. My avatar is not just pixels to me, he is a mirror. He is me. I thought it would be a good idea to write a blog consisting of some of the questions that people ask me. So, if you are interested, please continue reading.

                                                                                                Cheeeeese!

What does it mean to be transgender?

Transgender is a term for people whose gender identity/expression/behavior does not match the sex they were assigned at birth.

Have you always known/when did you figure out you are transgender?

I haven't always known that I am trans. However, I have always known that I was uncomfortable with myself. I have previously come out as a lesbian because I am attracted to women and that is just where society placed me. I was always uncomfortable with that label because I just didn't feel like it fit me. It wasn't until about a year and a half ago that I realized why. I watched a documentary about a female-to-male transgender and everything he was saying made me feel like he was just putting my life right in front of me. I did some researching and that's when I knew that I am transgender.

How do you identify yourself?

I am a straight man.

How did you choose your name?

I didn't choose my name, my name chose me. You know how you have that little voice in your head? Well, that little voice always called me "Jacob".

Which public restroom do you use?

Unisex or neither. I avoid public restrooms unless there is one for both males and females.

Do you have a penis/can I see it?

That's none of your business and no, you may not.

                                                                               No, you may not, sicko.

Thanks for reading and I hope this helped answer some of your questions.
